Summary: "not very applicable"
this may be helpful for larger police departments, but it's too much for most. i just took my (first, at least) law enforcement exam and it was NOTHING like the ones in this book. they say you should prepare to sit for about 4 hours for the exam--the real one wasn't even two hours. They placed great emphasis on memory questions, and the real one had absolutely no memory section or questions at all. I feel i could have done just as well (or as bad, however you want to look at it) without using this book. I actually feel kind of robbed, because i am well educated and did very well on every aspect of the exam except math (i haven't done long division since grade school about 20 years ago!) but maybe that was my fault for not knowing the format of the actual exam...anyway long explanation but it did nothing for me and i guess i'll just have to re-take the text next time it's offered and brush up on my math skills on my own.

The practice tests in this book are invaluable. It teaches great learning habits as well. I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about the exam.
The first practice test had 1 or 2 wrong answers, but still a great reference tool.

Summary: "Great book. Valuable tips."
This is a great book to prep you on your written exam for any police department. It's covers more than enough to obtain the knowledge required to take any entrance exam. I especially like the practice exams (4 of them) in which each took nearly 4 hours to complete. This will teach you exceptional study habbits and techniques.

Fantastic book: thorough, helpful, informative. If you're looking to learn more about how to pass a police test, this is book to get it. Immensely helpful. Contains loads of practice tests and special tests to help you discover your weak areas. Tons of pointers. An easy and quick read; I read at about a 4th grade level so that's saying a lot. Get this book.
